News on the Job Front
Yesterday I finally got ahold of someone who works for Parents as Teachers in my area...she runs the program for the Evanston-Skokie district which is just a few blocks away. I was referred to her from the state director.
She (as most of the PAT people have) has been out of the office for the summer and I called her as soon as I knew that she would be in.
She let me know that the government has put a hold on all of the funds for family service programs. She said that they are basically telling them "come to work- we don't know how we are going to pay you- but come to work." She said that she is waiting on grants from the state government to see how many people she can hire for the school year (her PAT program is school-based). I told her that I have been a teacher and I know what it's like to wait for money...
Anyway- she said that she foresees having one to two openings for Family Advocates (you go into houses of in-need families and make sure things are running smoothly) and that I will be the first person she calls when the money comes through.
So that's awesome.
