The Oyler Family Blog

Sadly, we are several states away from family and friends. But, we KNOW that they long to hear our mundane stories and self-righteous opinions. Never fear, friends- you can stay informed right here.

So....

This weekend Cameron and I were out at this swanky bar in Dallas called the Sunset Lounge....after a few minutes we spotted this guy sitting next to us...

Freaking weird, right?

Me: Hey Cam...that guy looks like Owen Wilson. It's almost uncanny!
Cam: Um....that IS Owen Wilson

Crazy. His nose is a lot smaller in person.

Easter and Other News....

So, we got Easter out of the way. Cameron and I went to his parents house on Saturday afternoon and stayed through Sunday. I had an audition that day that we had to stay in Dallas for (that I bombed. Awesome) On Saturday night we watched Capote with his parents. Very interesting movie, and GREAT acting job by Philip Seymour Hoffman.

On Sunday we went to the Easter mass in Greenville. It was great. I miss Father Paul. His parents also surprised me with ice cream sundaes that afternoon since I gave up sweets for Lent. It was great.

I'm attaching a photo of Cameron and I at Easter that his parents took. I look terrible, but hey, the memory is captured. Wow, looking at it again- I really do look like crap.

Next weekend his brother and sister-in-law Casey and Shannon are coming to town with the baby, Emory. So we will be spending Friday and Saturday with them. Cameron has offered to take off and head up to Kansas for the baby shower on Sunday, but that would just be nuts- a one day 10 hour trip.

The weekend after that Cam and I will be heading down to San Marcos for a wedding shower of some close family friends of Cameron's. Yes, I'm getting a triple dose of Goldapps. I told him that he definetely owes me a trip to Kansas after all of this.

Amy and Andy, I wrote you both an e-mail asking when might be a good weekend for us to visit before the baby comes. Maybe May? I hope there is one. Let me know. Also, what are the plans for Jackie? Cameron and I have been debating endlessly about that dog. I want to take it if you guys are going to get rid of it, and he keeps fighting me. He just hasn't met her and fallen in love with her yet. He will.

Other than that, we won't be seeing anyone until June when we head to Waldron. Keep that damned baby in your womb until after the trip, Amy. I'm not spoiling a good bluegrass festival for the spawn of Andy.

I talked to Grandma when I called at Easter. She made me bawl all over myself. She told me that she had made baby blankets for me since she won't be around much longer. It was a strange conversation, because for the first time- she actually sounded not well. It just made me sad. Anyway, she told me that she was putting a special green and yellow blanket away for me in the future.

Also, in other, more petty news...Cameron are on our 3rd week of South Beach. We have each lost about 7 pounds. We're pretty happy about that. We are doing Phase 1 for almost 2 more weeks. We like this quick weight loss. Anyways, we have the book now if anyone else wants to borrow it.

Hope all is well. I have no idea what anyone else is doing. So keep me posted. Post something for God's sake.

Steel Magnolias

Yesterday I auditioned for Steel Magnolias at Pocket Sandwich Theatre (which is right by Cameron's apartment). I think it went well. They had me read for Shelby, the lead role. The play only pays $150 but it would be my first paying gig and it runs for a month. Pretty cool. I should hear something for sure within the next couple of days. Keep your fingers crossed.

I also got moved in to my new apartment. It's great.

That's all for now I think.

Talk about a Bad Habit
