Update and other news

So....this weekend was great and I'm glad to have it over. Saturday night the banquet performances went great. Sunday mine and Allyson's auditions went great. Sunday night the performance was great. Cameron and his parents came over to it. Also, yesterday we had competition. We DID NOT advance; however, I had 2 students get technician awards and three students get acting awards. So, that is great. It's bittersweet- nice to have over but I'm sad that we didn't get to go on in competition. Oh well- there is always next year.

This week I have theatre club fundraiser stuff to do, and dancing with the Helmbergers/Cameron on Friday night and then moving on Saturday. Joe is moving me, and Cameron and his dad are also helping. That way we can get it done in one trip. Awesome. In the afternoon I also have an audition that I am thinking of going to.

Okay, so this is the crazy thing that I have to tell you.

So, the other day I was talking to Cameron and he looks at my face and says "what are you doing with your jaw?" . Well, I am doing this thing where I sort of rotate and move my jaw back and forth. I show him what I am doing. He asks me how long I have been doing it and I say about two weeks. He asks me if it hurts, and I tell him "Yes", that I wake up with a sore jaw every morning but I just can't help it. I have to do it or I go crazy. So then he asks me to try to stop and I try but I have to concentrate so bad that it takes all of my energy and I go crazy. So then we start this conversation about this weird tic and I tell him that ever since I was little I have had these weird tics that I do. Of course, I never thought they were called ticks or knew that they were tics. I told him that I can remember the first time being when i was like 9 or 10....I started blinking my eyes really hard and it lasted about a year. Then i started moving my shoulder, and then I did this sniffing thing. I have always done it, and I have always changed habits. The length of time that I do the tic varies. I always just assumed that I got it from Mom, because she's always done those weird twitchy things.

Well, Cameron decided that he wants to research it...and he basically found out that I have this sort of mild tourettes condition that 24% of children suffer from called Transient Tic Disorder. It can be hereditary, and usually starts with blinking. It is different from tourettes in that it usually is more mild and it is only motor (muscle) tics rather than vocal tics (like we associate with people who suffer from tourettes). People who suffer from Transiet Tic develop different incontrollable tics that last in varying lengths of time. I mean, it makes perfect sense. i always wondered while I did this stuff. I thought it was normal, and I didn't know that it was a tic. Luckily, I don't feel that ridiculous as 24% of people have it. Weird. Here is some research that he found.

It is so weird. Do you all remember me doing these weird things? I definetely do. I remember a shoulder thing that I used to. A finger thing. A sniffing thing. A blinking thing. It all makes perfect sense now. Ahhh...I am so relieved.

Headshot

Hey guys....so i had to get new headshots done since I am going to some auditions lately. My old headshot didn't quite look like me anymore. So, my student, Allyson, took some photos for me. Cam and I picked out the best one. Here it is.....good right? You all know me and you know that I am not even close to this attractive.

Anyways, I hope all is well.

Lent is upon us

So....it's been while. I've been super-busy preparing for one-act play, so I haven't been able to update in a while.

Speaking of updates- Dwayne, you never got back to me with my request. Read the last post.

Anyway, I have been getting ready for 0ne-act play. I know you guys don't know what this is, so let me explain. This is the high school theatre competition in Texas. It is pretty hardcore. It is a 40 minute one-act play, and there are a lot of rules and regulations. I have a 1000 dollar budget, so that's how big of a deal it is. This is pretty much the second biggest part of my job. It's similar to like the football coach's playoff games for me. The first competition is March 27, so we are getting down to the wire. I'm going crazy, but we are going to be great. Hopefully we will do well.

We are also prepping for the NYC trip next week. We leave Tuesday and come back Sunday. We will be seeing a live taping of The Colbert Report, the "best improv show in NYC" (according to a bunch of people), and also Spamelot. It should be great. We are really looking foward to it. We also, for the first time, get to see the St. Patrick's Day parade. I can't imagine the madness that will go on there. It's going to be awesome.

Coming up I am also moving. Currently I am living in 505 sq feet and paying $565 a month to live there. My new apartment will be 768 sq ft and $445 per month. It also has a fireplace a sunroom. You do the math on that one. It's going to be awesome, and my move-in date is April 1. Joe Helmberger is helping me move.

I also have scheduled some auditions in the area. The week of march 25-26 I am doing a Dallas "general audition" which means that a bunch of the area directors and producers that are doing in Dallas get to watch me all at once. About 30 of them. So hopefully I will get in a show this summer...maybe a paying gig. I am also auditioning for Garland Summer Musicals for Kiss me Kate and Singin' in the Rain. Hopefully I will get to do something this summer. I miss performing.

My improv troupe at the high school had its first high school show, and it was a hit. There were over a 100 people there, and everyone had a great time. We have another one on March 25 for the Farmersville Chamber of Commerce banquet, and also April 10 at the high school again. Hopefully we will continue to do well. We also got about $150 in donations towards getting t-shirts and helping out the troupe. So that was awesome!

I think that is all that is going one for me......(yeah, i know "that's ALL?") I am busy. In April things will slow down for me.

For Lent I gave up sweets and I Cameron and I vowed to make it to church every weekend. We've been doing well so far. We both went to church on Ash Wednesday and Sunday together at a cathedral in Dallas. So, that is good.

Anyways, let me know what everyone else is up to. I have been too busy to write.

Love you
